One secret truth about digital marketing that will have clients running to your business

Everything you believe about marketing is wrong.

We’re told there are two things certain in life. Death and taxes.

Well, we have a third - terrible marketing. The average person sees 10,000 adverts a day, and we’re here to tell you that they’re all mediocre at best.

Most people think marketing is about building a brand. Having a jingle or a silly slogan or a picture. If you haven’t already memory holed England’s latest euro showing, you’ll remember the Gillette advert. It’s a great song, I’ll give them that, but what is the purpose? What does it make you want to do? Stop what you’re doing and shave? Who knows. Gillette certainly doesn’t.

That’s the problem with the advertisements that we’re all used to. No one knows if it actually works. If you do buy a razor, there won’t be men with clipboards asking you if it’s because you listened to Tom Grennan.

Despite how it sounds, this is good news. For us at least.

It’s a tough pill to swallow, but modern adverts leave no impact on their customers. At all. You read it, you giggle and you move on to the next thing.

“But all the big companies do it”, you say.

Exactly. They are big companies, with big budgets and like most things in life, if the money is there, it will be wasted (people are guilty of that too). You see big companies are like cruise ships.

They might look pretty, but you wouldn’t call them agile, would you? Sure you’ll get to your destination eventually, just with double the cost and twice as long.

They didn’t use to be like this.

In fact, they used to be a speedboat. Efficient, concise and direct marketing got them to where they are today. They knew their audience, and what they wanted them to do, and they made it as easy as possible for them to carry out that action.

The good news is that you are exactly where they are. You have the privilege of being able to drive a speedboat. Not literally unless that’s what you’re into. We don’t want to be accused of false advertising, do we? That would be quite embarrassing for our first blog post. I digress.

The art of good advertising isn’t dead – but we would say ignored and neglected at best. Most have forgotten about it completely.

It’s a good job we haven’t.

Your marketing can be the one in 10,000 that people take action on. Simple, no frills and effective. Easy as you like.

Send us an email with your latest ad, and let’s turn you into a speedboat. (Again, not literally)
